how it works

There are 9 main categories. These contribute to the overall quality rating. Each category has a 1 to 5 rating, 1 being the worst, and 5 being the best.

Educational Value
Artistry
Language
Violence
Intensity, scariness
Sexual Content
Drinking, drugs, smoking

Each review discusses the categories in depth, other things to watch for, and the general take home message the media provides.

This is intended to be a guide for not only myself, but for other families seeking to find the best media to fill their home. This also is an attempt to look at media from a more critical perspective, to find the higher values in entertainment-based media, and to find the topics that are worth discussing.

The basics for this type of rating system came from Common Sense Media and the standards for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Each review is strictly my own opinion.
